WALT DISNEY- SOMEONE TO GET INSPIRED FROM

WALT DISNEY- HE GREW UP POOR Walt Disney was the fourth of five children, and was a part of a poor family, who in order to earn a livelihood, moved to Kansas City from Chicago. Sick of the deprivations, two of his older brothers ran away from home, but he persevered because of the support of his family’s neighbors
NEIGHBORS-GODFATHERS IN DISGUISE When he was just a child, his neighbor hired him to draw pictures of the man’s horse. Also his friend, Walter Pfeiffer, whose family had been in theatre, introduced him to the world of movies. It was because of them that Walt Disney developed his interest in art and animation.
HE LIED ABOUT HIS AGE TO JOIN DEFENSE He had a zeal for adventurous things. He was just 16,when US entered World War I, but he claimed himself to be mature enough to be a part of US Navy and attempted to join it, but was turned down. He even tried to join the Canadian armed forces but was again unsuccessful. Finally he landed up being the Red Cross ambulance driver. He tried his best, although the war ended before he made overseas.
HIS FIRST STUDIO WENT BANKRUPT After the war, he landed a job at an art studio working on print advertisements. He and his co-worker decided to part ways from the company to have their own setup, but ultimately winded it off to start another studio focusing on animation, called Laugh-O-Gram, which too bombed. Although Laugh-O-Gram’s cartoons were popular but the company went bankrupt, after which Walt Disney headed to Hollywood.
WALT
A BAD BUSINESS DEAL RESULTED IN THE CREATION OF MICKEY MOUSE His new studio at California worked on an animation series “Oswald the Lucky Rabbit”, distributed by Universal Pictures, which became popular. However, instead of getting a fee hike, his client tried to cut his fees, and by the time everything got sorted out, Disney had lost the rights to the popular character. He then worked on another character, Mortimer Mouse, which he renamed as Mickey Mouse, and rest as they say, is history.

WALT
WORLD WAR II MADE HIM LOSE ALMOST EVERYTHING With the advent of World War II, the European and Asian Film markets vanished, and when the US entered the war, Disney’s studio went to work to create training and propaganda movies for the US army. This made his work suffer as many of his key employees were drafted into the defense. His studio was able to recover only after Cinderella was released in 1950.

WALT DISNEY WORLD WAS NAMED TO ENSURE HE REMAINED IN MEMORIES FOREVER With the advent of World War II, the European and Asian Film markets vanished, and when the US entered the war, Disney’s studio went to work to create training and propaganda movies for the US army. This made his work suffer as many of his key employees were drafted into the defense. His studio was able to recover only after Cinderella was released in 1950. His creation at Florida includes Disney’s first name in it’s official form. It was because Disney died in 1966,and Roy, who postponed retirement to oversee construction, insisted his brother’s first name be included on the grounds that “Everyone has heard of Ford cars. But have they all heard of Henry Ford, who started it all? Walt Disney World is in memory of the man who started it all, so people will know his name as long as Walt Disney World is here”
